Jonah Guelzo

Jonah Guelzo grew up in historic Charlottesville, Virginia where he spent most of his childhood years. Growing up around three siblings, he enjoyed playing around with the family video camera, creating childish movies with his brothers.

Years later, he moved to Lynchburg to attend Liberty University, continuing to pursue his childhood love for video.  He has worked within commercial television and independent film production for many years and hopes to only further his knowledge in the ever growing and advancing world of visual media.

“Ever since I was a young child making movies with my older siblings, I always knew that when I grew up I wanted to work on movies. Getting my start in commercial television work gave me the opportunity to grow and apply everything I had learned in College and on my own through books, online tutorials and any other resource I could get my hands on.

Commercials in many ways can be a miniature movie, telling a miniature sized story all within the extreme constraint of a mere thirty seconds. As I continued to work more in video production as a camera operator and video editor, I found myself also being intrigued by the time, detail, and effort involved in creating a unique and polished soundtrack for each commercial or film project. Just like that, I began to delve into the world of sound production, enjoying all the challenges as well as satisfaction that it brought.

Before too long I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to begin working on independent feature films as a boom operator, production sound mixer, as well as a sound editor, helping to ensure the best possible on-location dialog recording as well as helping to create the final soundtrack for a film. With each new commercial or independent film project I have been a part of, I have gained new insight, new ideas, and new ways of being able to get the job done and done right.”
